Cuidado y mantenimiento de pamelas y tocados

Care and maintenance of hats and headdresses

When you come to buy a headdress at our atelier or ask us for advice, we always advise you to choose something that you can use several times, that matches the colours you usually choose or with other accessories that you can reuse. When you ask us, one of your main questions is always how to clean, care for and keep your headbands, hats, headdresses, etc. in perfect condition.

These are our top recommendations:

  • Always store them in the box we send you, inside tissue paper. This way they won't get covered in dust or smell.
  • In the case of the sun hats, in addition to the hat box, we also send them to you with a cover and a hanger to hang them in your closet. This way, they will take up less space than the 60 cm diameter hat box.
  • If your fascinator or hat has a headband to hold it more comfortably, you can remove it for easier storage. It can then be easily put back on.
  • If it's been a long time since you last wore your hat, headdress, tiara, etc., we recommend that you blow dry it so that it doesn't have a speck of dust and the flowers or feathers regain their vigor.
  • If your hat has been worn a lot and you see that its brim is losing strength or is deformed, you can iron it with a clothes iron and be very careful not to burn yourself or the hat.
  • If any stains have fallen on your headdress, try cleaning it with neutral soap and very little water.
  • In these times of Covid, if you want to do a deep disinfection, we recommend that you use an ultraviolet C lamp. This is what we are using between clients to disinfect each of our pieces.
  • If you don't dare to touch your hat, headdress, tiara... call us or send us an email to marcela@marcelaandco.com and we'll see what we can do with it.

We take advantage of this post to tell you that we have a restyling service for hats . If you are tired of your hat and want to give it a new look, talk to us. It is not always possible but many times we can change the ribbon, add flowers, spine, feathers, veil, horsehair... We will assess the condition of the hat and give you a quote to give it a new look.

Happy week!

Paula
